SOS to Set Aside More Than S$1.5million to Help in Crew Change During COVID-19

To support safe crew changes and the shipping companies during the COVID-19 pandemic, SOS will be setting aside more than S$1.5million to help defray the cost of accommodation and meals for seafarers staying at the Seacare Hotel, one of the designated holding facilities to accommodate signing on/off crew in the port of Singapore.

The Maritime and Port of Authority of Singapore has updated its requirements for crew change for cargo ships in the port of Singapore, to minimise risk of community spread of COVID-19.

On 30 January 2020, SOS, Seacare, and Chip Eng Seng Group hosted its annual Chinese New Year lunch at Red Star restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year with Jalan Kukoh residents. About 400 senior residents from Jalan Kukoh attended the lunch and were thoroughly entertained by the caishens, performances, and Mediacorp artistes Mr Richard Liu and Ms Lin Mei Jiao.

The Suites Hotel & Spa was successfully acquired on 23 December 2019. The Management Team (UK Hotels) made a site visit to the hotel on 8 January 2020, to view the various rooms and facilities. They were warmly welcomed by Compass Hospitality (UK) and Ms Lindsay Tyer, General Manager of the hotel.
