Keeping Community at Heart This Mid-Autumn

On Sep 24, the SOS Women and Youth Committee, together with SOS leadership, visited four welfare homes: AWWA Senior Community Home, Jamiyah Home for the Aged, Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens, and Sree Narayana Mission, in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The annual initiative is part of SOS’s ongoing efforts to support and give back to the elderly community.

Each home received provisions carefully tailored to their needs, along with mooncakes to celebrate the festive season. The gesture brought a sense of comfort and cheer to the residents, while also meeting their practical needs. Though simple, these acts conveyed the true meaning of Mid-Autumn: a reminder that no one is forgotten during times of celebration.

The visits were warmly received by the homes, which expressed their appreciation for the thoughtful gifts.

“Every year, our seniors look forward to seeing the cheerful faces of the SOS volunteers. Beyond the festive celebration, it is also about creating lasting memories together. Thank you!” said Karen Choong, Senior Programme Executive, AWWA Senior Community Home.

Through initiatives like these, SOS continues to demonstrate that care extends beyond its membership, fostering goodwill and connection within the wider community.
