Spreading waves of Christmas cheer aboard vessels

In the lead-up to Christmas, SOS brought festive cheer aboard vessels calling at the Port of Singapore, reaching out to seafarers in November and December 2025 with warmth, care and connection.

Led by SOS Vice president Mohamad Abu Bakar, IR Officers Alan Kor and Moon Tan, the ship visits went beyond exchanging festive gifts and greetings. Each visit created space for care and conversation — checking on crew welfare, listening to feedback on workplace conditions and understanding the concerns of seafarers spending the festive season far from home.

Seafarers were also updated on SOS’s latest initiatives and assistance schemes, reinforcing the union’s role as a trusted advocate for fair, safe and decent working conditions. The two-way exchanges were warmly received, offering reassurance, encouragement and a reminder that they are not forgotten.

These Christmas outreach visits reflect SOS’s commitment to walking alongside seafarers — building relationships, keeping communication open and strengthening the bonds that hold the seafaring community together, especially at that time of year.
