The ITF Maritime Roundtable 2025, held from Sep 15 to 18 in Cyprus, gathered 178 delegates from 64 countries. Organised by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and hosted by the Federation of Transport, Petroleum and Agriculture Workers in Cyprus (FTPAW SEK), the event served as a platform for young maritime unionists to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration.

SOS Industrial Relations Officer (IRO) Moon Tan was among the Singapore maritime union representatives at the roundtable. The sessions explored key global themes, including the impact of artificial intelligence on maritime work, sustainable shipping practices, and the ITF’s ongoing campaigns on Flags of Convenience and supply chain accountability, reaffirming the vital role of young workers in shaping the industry’s future.
“The ITF Maritime Roundtable was more than an event. It was a turning point where young voices united to chart the course for a stronger, more inclusive maritime future,” said Sister Tan.
