Senior residents from the Jalan Kukoh and Chin Swee neighbourhoods gathered at Club@52 on Oct 3 for a heart-warming Mid-Autumn Celebration organised by Seacare and SOS. The event brought together about 120 residents for an evening of song, good food and festivities.

In preparation for the celebration, the Club@52 floor space was transformed to welcome the residents. The effort was supported by volunteers from the Jalan Kukoh and Chin Swee Residents’ Networks (RNs), who assisted with coordinating the residents’ participation and ensuring a smooth evening for all.

The celebration began with opening remarks by Ms Kathryn Ang, Organising Chairperson, who spoke about the significance of the festival as a time for reunion and thanksgiving.
“When people are well and happy, the best thing to do is to eat and be merry,” she said, noting that the festival’s spirit of abundance and harmony aligns closely with Seacare’s ethos of doing well and giving back.

Guests then enjoyed a delicious bento meal and were encouraged to bring home the reusable bento boxes and cutlery as keepsakes. The programme continued with a lively line-up of performances featuring well-loved Chinese classics that had residents singing, clapping, and even dancing along to familiar tunes.
Each year, senior residents look forward to the $50 Hong-Bao (red packet) presentation by Seacare and SOS representatives, a gesture of appreciation that brings smiles and gratitude from many. The thoughtful tradition reflected Seacare and SOS’s care for the older generation and its ongoing commitment to supporting the community.

The evening continued with a special performance by Mr Huang Shi Nan, Mediacorp veteran, who captivated the audience with two soulful renditions that drew warm applause.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of mooncakes to all residents, marking a sweet end to an evening filled with warmth, gratitude and togetherness.
