Seacare Co-operative has launched an Education Voucher scheme to empower students in the Jalan Kukoh and Chin Swee community, complementing its ongoing Seacare Community Shop initiative.
A voucher presentation took place at the Maritime Hall on Dec 11, joined by staff, selected beneficiaries and volunteers from Jalan Kukoh and Chin Swee Residents’ Committee (RC).
In her opening address, Deputy CEO Shena Foo highlighted Seacare’s community focus: immediate family-centric assistance via the Community Shop vouchers and long-term youth empowerment through educational support. The Education Voucher initiative would benefit 100 students with $10,000 worth of Popular Bookstore vouchers earmarked for distribution by the RCs.
Ms Foo acknowledged the pivotal roles of both RCs in facilitating Seacare’s community endeavours and said the vouchers would come in handy for purchasing textbooks and stationeries to prepare the students when school re-opens in 2024.
