What Seafarers Must Know About Vaping in Singapore

Vaping is banned in Singapore. From 1 September 2025, penalties have become stricter, with fines of up to $2,000 for anyone caught possessing, using, or purchasing e-vaporisers.

For foreign crew calling at the Port of Singapore, compliance is not optional. The Singapore government has made it clear that foreigners are subject to the same laws. Offenders risk having their devices seized, being fined, or, in severe cases, facing deportation and bans from re-entry. E-vaporisers containing etomidate, a substance now listed under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973 (MDA), carry the most severe consequences.

SOS urges all members to take this law seriously and to look after their health
